Course 4

Organ repertoire by Johann Sebastian Bach II by Prof. Manuel Tomadin

Dates: July 20-24 (1st week)

Description
Although Bach himself was not a foreign traveller, he was clearly inspired by composers from other countries. He copied and studied scores by foreign composers, listened to their music and integrated their musical language into his own works. He was a great fan of Vivaldi, for example. It is clear that Bach’s organ arrangements of concerts by this Italian master strongly influenced his own works. Manuel Tomadin is an expert on the “Italian Bach”. He will discuss the organ pieces with transalpine elements and the sources of these influences.
