Next summer the International Organ Festival Haarlem will take place for the 55th time with three pillars: the International Summer Academy, the Improvisation Competition and more than 25 concerts by today's most prominent organists from all over the world.
The International Organ Festival Haarlem starts on Saturday 13 July 2024 with the Haarlem Organ Day in all historical churches in the city of Haarlem, and with the Opening Concert in the Grote or St.-Bavokerk. This concert will feature the world premiere of the multimedia composition A Child of Books, a piece by the Flemish composer Bart Verheyen for mixed choir, youth choir, ad hoc choir of Haarlem primary school children and the Müller organ. This work was commissioned in cooperation with several other European organ festivals. Besides primary school children, National Choirs led by László Nemes and organist Laurens de Man will participate in the performance.
